Sarah Johnson, RDH, OMT
Myofunctional Partners
Sarah Johnson is a Registered Dental Hygienist, Orofacial Myofunctional Therapist, and Certified Buteyko Breathing Educator. Sarah holds degrees in Human Biology from Michigan State University, and in Dental Hygiene from Roane State in Tennessee. She and has practiced dental hygiene across the US for over 15 years. Sarah was trained in the Buteyko breathing method by Patrick McKeown and attended the Academy of Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy.
Throughout her dental hygiene career, Sarah witnessed the negative effects of oral breathing, tongue ties, and myofunctional disorders on the health of her patients, herself, and eventually on her own daughter’s health. Traditional solutions were not always successful. It was through the educational efforts of the AOMT and the Buteyko Clinic, in combination with her physiology background, that Sarah came to realize the solution. Breathing re-education and myofunctional therapy, in harmony with treatment from other health professionals, are proven successful for a variety of problems from dental crowding and TMD to sleep apnea, asthma, and emotional distress. Sarah endeavors to simplify the treatment process for patients suffering from orofacial myofunctional related problems, and to raise awareness of these logical solutions in the dental and health communities.
