Debra Hankins M.S., CCC/SLP
The Speech Clinic, PLLC
I have been an ASHA Certified (CCC) Speech Language Pathologist since 1997. Speech Pathologists have a huge scope of practice. During my career, my interests in the field led me to work as an SLP in Medical Rehabilitation in Missouri; Early Intervention, Public, and Charter Schools in New Mexico, Arizona, and Oklahoma. Currently, I have the opportunity to work in private practice and specialize in Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy and working with children with moderate to severe speech sound production errors. My passion for OMT is fueled by my personal experience of the cascading negative effects of a restricted lingual frenulum (tongue-tie) on my daughter- beginning with significant nursing issues. I feel it is my mission to help families navigate a path to resolve the issues associated with tethered oral tissue. I consistently seek out continuing education opportunities to keep up with the latest research and evidence-based practices to best help my patients. I attend AAMS, IAOM, & ASHA conventions at every opportunity and have completed courses through TalkTools, the AOMT (Academy of Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy), and the IAOM (International Association of Orofacial Myology).
