Orofacial Myofunctional Therapist
Buteyko Breathing Educator
After graduating from George Brown College in Toronto in 1978 and working in the Toronto area for a year, I moved to the Owen Sound area in 1979 and began working with a Certified Specialist in Orthodontics. Over the years I have seen what improper tongue behaviour can do to a mouth – all the way from preventing the jaws from developing properly which leads to dental crowding, to the finished orthodontic patient who will never really be “finished” because the tongue keeps pushing the teeth apart.
My frustration with not being able to help these individuals led me to search for learning opportunities to fill the gap in my dental hygiene training. I found such a course in early 2012 and travelled to San Francisco to take the training I needed to provide effective therapy for repatterning tongue muscles. My instructor, Joy Moeller, is a leading therapist in oromyofunctional disorders and has been practicing this for over 30 years with great success. She is the “go to” person in Beverly Hills, CA
